A farmer has a large family in a small home that tends to get really loud, this reminded me of my childhood. He asked an old wise man what he could do to get the noise down but the old wise man kept giving him "funny" advice, like bringing home chickens and donkeys home. Once the farmer couldn't take anymore noise he asked the wise one one more time and he told him to remove all the animals. Even though his house was still noisy it seemed quiet compared to before, I guess the wise man was wiser than we thought. ( )

While reading this book I found it very funny and that it consisted of a very important message. The book starts off portraying a big family that lives in one house. The farmer who lives in the house with his family thinks it's too noisy and asks an old wise man how to fix his problem. This is where the story becomes interesting, The wise old man tells the farmer to start putting his farm animals in the house. Therefore, instead of the noises his family made, he also had the noises the animals made as well. This story continues to the farmer going back and forth to the old wise man. I feel like this story is beneficial for two reasons. The first reason is that it has many verbs and pictures to go with the verbs. Another reason is that it shows the readers to be grateful of what they have. They are shown this at the end of the story when the farmer takes out the animals and feels relieved. He was shown to appreciate what he had instead of complaining about his problem. ( )

This is about a man who lived in a small house with a big family. With all the people in the small house, the farmer believed it was too noisy. So, he went to a wise man who kept telling him to add more farm animals in the house. After several times, he told the wise man that it was not working. So, the wise man told him to take all of the animals out of the house! After the relief of the animals, he realized it wasn't so loud after all. Great way to show children that it isn't always greener on the other side! Appreciate what you have because it could be worse! ( )
