"The comic book industry comes together to support the survivors and honor those killed at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, on June 12, 2016. Writers and artists from across the globe have created exclusive new material expressing their sorrow, compassion, frustration, and hope, all inspired by the tragic events. This suffers a bit from multiple authors/artists independently doing tributes and reactions to the Orlando Pulse club shooting. There is some overlap in stories, some that don't seem to fit with the rest very well, and some that touch me more than others. But they all come from the heart, which I appreciate, and I greatly appreciate the labor of love this was to pull off. All the proceeds go to support the victims and their families, so that alone gives it five stars in my book. Except that overall, I thought it was very well done collection. Yes, it was strange to see superhero panels next to non, but as this is the graphic novel/comic community coming together, I suppose that dichotomy would exist.

I read the digital version and I wish that the print version also had the extras that were included at the end because they were quite good. ( )

Keep Kleenex nearby when you read this collecting of vignettes about writers feeling on the Pulse shootings. Some used their personal feelings and dramatic retellings of the events, others used comic characters they are working on to show their reactions to the attack. I had to take breaks reading this because of the emotions reading this brought about. This is a moving tribute to the people that suffered at the hands of the shooter and an emotional read. ( )

Four stars for this anthology's aim (to raise money for Equality Florida in the wake of the Pulse nightclub shooting). I would've liked fewer general pieces, and longer and/or more specific stories that focused on the people we lost in that tragedy. But I applaud the fact that so many folks wanted to participate ... and given that there are still homophobic *&*#! spilling their hate online and elsewhere, we probably need that "love is love" message repeated over and over and over until enough people get it. This rating is based on the good intentions of the project. As with any anthology, some pages are great and some are crap. But that is neither here nor there, as this book is a concrete example of the adage, it's the thought that counts. ( )
