It is formatted in a tournament bracket style where two bugs are matched up against each other and the one with better survival skills wins. The author presents readers with a lot of facts about each bug and the illustrations are very lifelike so readers can imagine the events. This book may be overwhelming if read in one sitting as there are a lot information given to students. I think this would be a good book for students that have a strong interest in bugs or introducing the idea of characteristics and comparing organisms whole class. In Class: This book would be a great addition to a life science unit. It is the best example of how organisms use their structures to survive. It is very engaging and would make a fun interactive read aloud. You could have students separate to pick who they thought would win. ( )
