Just not the right audience. I was looking for more mystery, better recipes, and less early adult relationships. ( )

A wine and cheese shop is the setting for this Canadian winter cozy mystery. Wine shop owner Amalia finds a dead body in her garage. Amalia is doing her best to not wind up on the wrong side of the investigation. Turns out the dead body was a member of her long-time enemy's family. There's also a random drifter hanging around the area, and plenty of grounds for suspicion.

There were some things I found confusing about this book. The main one is the setting. This book takes place in what is described as the outskirts of Ottawa. At the same time, Amalia's wine shop is described as the only restaurant in the town. That made little sense for the edge of a major city. There's also a complicated system of canals and trails that plays heavily into this book. I would liked to have had more description of this, as I'm not familiar with it, and it sounded interesting. Finally, I found the relationship between Amalia and the rival pizzeria owner to be rather unbelievable. ( )

Yet another librarything never recieved book, not physically or otherwise, and had written them but nothing, and as this was April 24th and it is now July 11th, PAST time to quit waiting on them or trying to get reply. It might be on kindle unlimited, but they're not worth my time at this point or before. {Yes it is up to the writer to send the books, librarything is basically a writer/reviewer get together place.} ( )

It was a quick fun read. Liked the main characters as well as the Mali's friend circle. As this book referred to some incidents from book 1 in the series, which I have not read, at times it did feel like I was missing some details (but not so much that I wouldn't be able to enjoy it :-) ).
It did feel like I've read something similar earlier, with differences in the location/settings/etc of course. This led me to wonder that I have been reading too may cozy mysteries lately (will switch it up :-)) ( )

Ice Whine and Irish Cheddar (Whine & Cheese Cozy Mystery Series) by, Judy Volhart
What a fun read!!! I have to admit, once I picked it up, I didn’t set it back down. I loved the characters; they were very relatable and approachable. It was a believable mystery and it easily swayed the pendulum from humor to suspense. I will be eagerly reading her next mystery as soon as it comes out! ( )
