I finished this audiobook about 2 weeks ago and I already kinda forgot the book. I don't really remember how it ends. Maybe if I rack my brain, I can put it together. But at the time, it was enjoyable. I think just by book 4, I was kind of done with it. I also thought this book was weird because they made a guy a main character who was just briefly mentioned before. And it was like, the other 3 books had all these main characters and maybe one random person was added, but you didn't get their full perspective. I think that's why I liked this the least. And poor Kelley died in the end. ( ) The final book in the Elin Hilderbrand Winter series picks off where the third one left off. More of the same drama in this dysfunctional family as the members grapple with their demons and prepare for the inevitable death of the patriarch, Kelley. Margaret retires from her storied broadcasting career to settle into her second act marriage to Drake. Jennifer is asked to host an HGTV-style home renovation show, Ava gets a proposal, and the inn gets sold. Again, somewhat predictable and exaggerated, but still and engaging story. Winter Solstice by Elin Hilderbrand is a 2017 Little, Brown and Company publication. I think this series was supposed to be a trilogy- but it was only fitting that one more book was added- finally giving Bart his own story. Though bittersweet, this was a lovely send off for the series. The Quinn’s have closed one chapter in their lives, but are now set to move on to another phase- one that will see them finally receive stability, peace after a time of uncertainty and chaos. I have enjoyed each minute with the Quinn’s and will miss them- but I’m glad I got to know them and will always remember them fondly. 4 stars Bart is home, but staying in his room and smoking pot; Kelley has brain cancer and is not doing well; Ava is teaching music at Cooper Hill School in New York City and dating Potter Lyon who has a 7-year-old son who lives with his mother in California; Kevin and Isabelle have a new son and Kevin's business is doing well; Patrick is still trying to get his new futures business off the ground; Jennifer is an even more successful interior designer but she has been sexually assaulted by a possible client; and Mitzi is planning to sell the Winter Street Inn after she throws Bart's 22nd birthday party at the VFW. The drama for Bart figuring out what he wants to do with his life; Ava figuring out where she and Potter Lyons are going; Margaret Quinn retiring from the network; and the drama surrounding the failing health of the family patriarch, Kelley Quinn. It all comes together 2 days before Christmas. This is the fourth book of the series and the last. I read the first one a while back so I had to familiarize myself with the family and the residents of Nantucket. I also read the plots of #2, and #3 to get an idea what happened in between. It was not my favorite of her books. I liked the characters and the plot but won't be backtracking to read the others in this series. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

It's been too long since the entire Quinn family has been able to celebrate the holidays under the same roof, but that's about to change. With Bart back safe and sound from Afghanistan, the Quinns are preparing for a holiday more joyous than any they've experienced in years. And Bart's safe return isn't the family's only good news: Kevin is enjoying married life with Isabelle; Patrick is getting back on his feet after paying his debt to society; Ava thinks she's finally found the love of her life; and Kelly is thrilled to see his family reunited at last. But it just wouldn't be a Quinn family gathering if things went smoothly. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
