I'm a big fan of this type of book; shortish stories on fascinating tidbits of history, particularly Australian history (being an Australian and all). So, while there were quite a few tales I had heard before, there were also new stories to marvel at and acquait myself with.

As you can guess, any book of ripping yarns from Australia is bound to include Errol Flynn, the Thunderbolt Kid and Jack Johnson (an American but included here due to his involvement in the 1908 "Fight of the Century" in Sydney). There's also an array of lesser known lights mentioned, including Eugenia Falleni, "Chinese" Morrison and the poor unfortunates Bogle and Chandler.

All in all, definitely worth your while reading this (and Vol. 1 while you're at it). ( )

This was a very interesting dig into parts of Australia's history that are skipped over in school. I actually learned quite bit from this book - and thoroughly enjoyed every minute! ( )
