2018 Spring:

A friend threw me at a recording of Sabrina Benaim reading "Explaining Depression to My Mother" and it was so passionately on key I felt the need to pick this book up right after. I loved this tome, and have recommended it out to three other people since. Her poetry in short, sharp, full of every feeling, and grabs you by the shoulders from the second you start. You feel her longing and her love, as well as her pain and frantic changes.

I will be keeping an eye on this one for further publications. ( )

This author had a few lines that really stood out to me. Overall, the majority of the poems did not move me. I do think this author has a unique style of describing depression, which I appreciate. ( )

Una delusione su tutta la linea. A parte il poema "Explaining My Depression to My Mother" non ho trovato altro che mi abbia colpito nel profondo. Nonostante il tema fosse interessante e ricco di spunti di riflessione non sono proprio riuscita ad apprezzare gli altri scritti come avrei voluto. Un libro leggibile e carino ma... nulla di che... ( )

I had my doubts. Not because I thought her poetry would be bad, but because I think it sounds better from her mouth, in her voice. But reading this was just what I needed. I'm almost tempted to read it again. Like right now. ( )

Poetry
This book is definitely one for high school students, as it deals with some pretty heavy topics sometimes. This book of poems details different struggles some individuals may have with mental health issues, including but not limited to depression and anxiety.
