Red and Goose campaign against each other for the office of planetary mayor, and then reconcile over a game of baseball, only to be forced to defend themselves against a fearsome attack by the merciless Uskogs!

Pittman has crafted a gently humorous kids’ comic about conflict and reconciliation that’s a delight to see and read. ( )

Great cartooning and fun characters but the story really veers off into awkward territory with an election storyline that feels like personal opinion on current events. There's nothing wrong with commenting on current issues in children's books but this felt more like a *wink, wink* to adult readers and comes across as heavy handed and fails to connect with kid readers. The last quarter of the book brings us back to the sci-fi narrative and a satisfying ending. Hoping book 3 sticks to the sci-fi stuff. ( )

I realize that I'm not the target demographic/audience because I was thoroughly bored. I'm sure children will think differently though. I will say Steve/Glibx was super adorable! :) ( )

Red is stuck on a planet with a mismatched group of aliens. There is a power struggle to see who will run this crazy group. Who will win the election? Red or Goose? Who will defeat the space pirates that return to this planet? Can they come together to save themselves?

I absolutely adored the first book, RED'S PLANET, and book two did not disappoint. I love the message of acceptance, despite differences. How working as a team can make all the difference in the universe. Red is not a girly-girl, which I love. She is brave, bold, and not afraid to stand her ground. Thank you, Eddie Pittman, for writing such strong girl character. I recommend this book for grades three and up. ( )
