Simple text, vibrant illustrations, fun plot.

Not my personal favorite style of book, but most kiddos will love it. Reads a lot like Elephant and Piggie. Silly characters caught in funny situations. Speech bubble text. ( )

Duck is running from an unknown pursuant, and the other animal friends start running also until one friend tells them they must face their fear. What awful thing might be there??

This book does have a subtle message about mob mentality and how fears can become exaggerated. However, the text itself is rather limited so a caregiver would have to do a bit of explaining to make that more apparent. Of course, the text is rather limited so that beginning readers can tackle this book with minimum difficulty, so it is beneficial in that regard. Young children will likely find it humorous as well.

The illustrations are very simple and cartoonish, but I suppose that works for this story and medium. I still maintain the “dog” looks like a bear though. ( )
