Fantasy. Fiction. Romance. LGBTQIA+ (Fiction.) SSA Rain Christiansen used to be the agency's golden boy. It just takes one moment of weakness, one slight, tiny, itty-bitty paranormal sighting, and all of a sudden he's the agency's embarrassment. His boss gives him one last chance to redeem himself-go down to Brickell Bay, play nice with the local police, and leave the ghost sightings behind. Rain is determined to do exactly that, even if it kills him. Cold-case detective Daniel McKenna's latest investigation is going nowhere fast. Five years earlier, high school student Amy Greene went missing after leaving her part-time job and was never seen again. Daniel is glad to finally have the FBI help that his department requested, even if it does come in the form of his ex. It doesn't help that Rain is pretty sure he's falling in love with Danny all over again-if he ever stopped. Add to that the frustration of seeing ghosts at every turn while he works a case that's stalled in its tracks, and Rain is starting to wonder if second chances and happy endings are just for fairy tales.… (mehr)

Mmmmm. I don't read fantasy, vampire, science fiction and now paranormal. I thought I might be able to take a little ghost ... but no. It didn't appeal to me though I did my best to get onboard with it.

The detective part of the novel was quite good, as was the romance. But the presence of the cantankerous ghost Ethan, and even the murder victim, managed to hold up the book and not add anything - the only redeeming part was the way FBI agent/G man Rain Christiansen reacted to the ghostly stalking - I enjoyed meeting him through his first person narration.

Rain was such a mix of contradictions - I liked his weirdness. ( )

I liked the e-sample enough to buy the book. Though it took me awhile to get hooked, once in I zoomed through the rest of it. Rain's delightfully weird and that's good, as this whole story is from his perspective. Loved the plot, the twists and turns and challenges. Loved the relationship. Loved his family. And I can attest to the accuracy of Florida summer. Great book. ( )

WOW! I am so impressed right now! It was a first read by a new author and I never thought that it'd turn out to be such an amazing book. I wanted something light and funny, but this was just something else! As corny as the idea seemed at first, I absolutely LOVED what Ms. Harmon did with it.

I’ve never been a big fan of second-chance romances, either in books or movies. Well, color me surprised by how much I liked this one. Rain (and I’m STILL cracking up at that conversation with his sister Sky where they were debating the possibility of their parents naming a hypothetical third child Earth) and Danny were just so perfect for each other. It was clear from the start that getting back together wouldn’t be easy, but it was just as obvious that they were still in love. The UST between the two of them was so delicious, but it had nothing on the actual sex. Whew! Hands down, those are some of the hottest sex scenes I’ve ever read.

The mystery was so well written it blew my mind; for the longest time, I had no idea who the culprit was. The supernatural angle was different from my usual reads but still amazing, and I loved how Rain began to accept his abilities in the end. He was the perfect narrator for me, too - smartass and sarcastic, and damn funny. I’ve no idea how many times I laughed out loud while reading this book, but it was A LOT.
And how perfect was that ending! A HEA is kind of expected in this kind of story, but it was just so sweet. Imo, it left some room for a continuation, if the author decided to make this into a series instead of a standalone (YES, PLEASE! I want more Rain & Danny goodness!), but it was satisfying nonetheless. A big stamp of approval from me.

One of the fun ones you come across in occasion and enjoy thoroughly. I really liked the narrator too. His tone was quick and light, just right for the main character, Rain. ( )

Story:
2 stars
If Victor Bayne from PsyCop and Dex from THIRDS had a child and it was written into existence by Alice Winters and then watered down, that would be the correct description of Rain Christiansen, our MC. For him to be anything law enforcement is blatantly unrealistic and the whole story is just one big stress test of my suspension for disbelief.
The writer equates love to lust - we were told Rain and his ex were together for 4 years, but all we see is them lusting after one another now. There was no sense of intimacy or anything else beyond how hot Rain thinks his ex still is.
And yet... I had fun. A lot of it has to do with reading it in audiobook format, I'm sure. For now, I think I'll continue the series as long as the audios are available on Scribd.

Audio:
4.5 stars - excellent narration and a pleasant voice! ( )
