We're the D'Artigo sisters: savvy half-human, half-Fae operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. My sister Delilah is a two-faced werecat and a Death Maiden. Menolly is a vampire married to a gorgeous werepuma and a vampire prince. And me? I'm Camille, a Moon Witch married to three gorgeous husbands, and I'm about to ascend to the throne of Dusk & Twilight. But the path to the throne lies through a labyrinth of dangers, which I must face alone...Before I can fulfill my destiny to become the Queen of Dusk & Twilight, I must seek out the Keraastar Diamond. But to find the magical gem and take control over the Keraastar Knights, I must venture back to Otherworld, deep into the treacherous Tygerian Mountains. Once there, I face a magical trial by fire. If I fail, the chance to stop Shadow Wing will fade with me. If I succeed, my life will forever change. And I'm not certain which prospect frightens me the most. Review:
So it is a Camille book again. If you have been following these reviews up to this point, you may remember that I said that Camille is the only important sister, and the entire story revolves around her fight against Shadow Wing, and I cannot figure out why the other sisters are lead characters too. And you may remember how in Priestess Dreaming, the last book that featured Camille, I complained that it was some side quest that didn't matter except because the author wanted it to matter.
Well, guess what. We're off on a quest again! Two of them even!
Two really boring quests. Someone found where the last seal was located, completely randomly now that there are only three books in the series left, right? And it is in some really weird out of the way place but really close to where they're at anyway because of course it is. So they go off and get it. And the only trouble they encountered is they nearly got eaten.
And then there is another quest where Camille, who is once again the only sister that matters, has to go and become the person to control all of the spirit seals in the quest again Shadow Wing. Which results in an insanely long trek across Otherworld, where no one knows where they're going but it is all going to turn out just fine anyway. And the only thing they encounter along the way are silly little things to "make certain they are the right person for the job".
Not even anything that Shadow Wing throws out at them.
What a wasted opportunity.
And everything turns out alright in the end.
(Seriously though, this book was way too easy.) ( )
