Gabriella Mendoza has lived her entire life under the controlling thumb of her grandfather, a mastermind who runs his own criminal organization. In a bold move, Gabby seeks the help of the Grey Justice team. If they agree to kidnap her, setting her free from her grandfather, she will also arrange to have her brother captured and arrested for the multiple murders he has committed. Jonah Slater is in charge of keeping Gabby safe and helping her start a new life after her kidnapping, but enforced time together causes sparks to fly between them. Gabby's grandfather, though, isn't giving up on trying to find her, and his reasons make it difficult for Gabby to start her new life.
This is another good Grey Justice story, however, once the kidnapping occurs very early in the story, there is little action until near the end of the book. The middle is a long series of events with Jonah and Gabby getting to know one another - not necessarily a bad thing, but probably could have been shorter to get to the same conclusion. Otherwise this was a very good addition to the Grey Justice series. ( )

Christy Reece can take a mere premise of an idea & turn it into the most riveting, intense story. Her characters are well developed & don't always act as expected. By every right, after being secluded & abused, Gabriella should have been the most meek, mild mannered woman alive. Instead, she ends up being a ferocious warrior determined to protect herself. Jonah is a hot, single minded protector. He's determined to find the person behind the killing of Teri, a woman that tried to help him bring down his corrupt brother & father. The journey these two take to find a future with each other is fraught with danger, fear, courage, death & love. Once I picked up this book, I couldn't put it down. This is another wonderful Grey Justice novel. Like all of Ms. Reece's books, while this is part of a series, each can be read as a stand alone. ( )
