A collection of shortish stories. ( )
  izzied | Oct 29, 2020 |
This collection is group of several excellent stories by a group of talented authors. All the stories are quite good. My personal favorites are Infatuation by Willow Winters, Malfeasance by K Webster, and Date Night by Isabella Starling, but I did like them all. If you aren't familiar with some of the authors, this is a good way for you to try them out and see if you want to read more. The stories are just long enough to give you a good taste of them and let you figure out what each author is like. ( )

Infatuation - Willow Winters - 5 Stars
"But I dream of him. Of climbing through the forest and standing at the edge."
I really loved Infatuation, it set the bar high for the collection with fantastic, descriptive writing. It was mysterious and sexy, with two characters I'd really like to get to know more about. It's short, it's intriguing, and it ends in a really unique, open ended way. I want more.

The Billionaire's Beginning - M. Never - 4 Stars
"The simple touch is enough to generate more heat than an inferno though. Our attraction burns bright."
I didn't expect to like this one, I went into it with low expectations, because I really dislike any books with the word billionaire or millionaire in it. Then I met the characters and the sweet, over-the-top infatuation of Ty and I was hooked. It featured a really positive message, a topic not often discussed in books, and a romantic, fast-paced storyline I really enjoyed.

Doctor Dreamy - L.J. Shen - 4 Stars
"'The pessimism around here is intoxicating,' I breathe out."

I didn't see this one coming from L.J. Shen, but boy did I enjoy it. The heroine is sassy, she's got attitude for days, and she definitely needs that when dealing with the doctor. Doctor Rhys Matthews is a jerk, but Savannah seems fit for the job. Not only is it hilarious, but it's hot as hell too. They have a push and pull between them, the boss-employee role is one way, but their connection is something else. It was entertaining, it was smutty, and it was a really enjoyable read.

Malfeasance - K. Webster - 5 Stars
"Virile.
Strong.
Sexy.
Addictive."

K. Webster never fails to hit it out of the park. Handsome, older man and a young woman who needs just a little bit of rescuing. Malfeasance was packed with action, insta-love, and insatiable sexual appetites. I can't even say more, just that I really liked it, a lot!

Fifth Avenue Blues - Jade West - 3 Stars
"'Make it worth my while,' she says. 'Please.'"
I have to hand it to Jade West, she managed to fit what she does best into the very short Fifth Avenue Blues just perfectly. It's dirty and sexy, but personally it missed the boat for me. I was expecting more sweet, sexy insta-love stories, but I suppose I should've known better. I really liked the female lead, but Kyle wasn't my favorite.

Datenight - Isabella Starling - 3 Stars
My rating comes down to personal preference for the type of romance I read; I would not have selected this on my own, however I cannot deny that it was well written, engaging, and had excellent character development.

Bad Cop - A. Zavarelli - 4 Stars
It took me a while to get into Bad Cop, but then things got interesting and I was so wrapped up in the story I had to read it without stopping. It's an incredibly fleshed out story for how short it is, with the characters having known each other in the past. I could see the town, the characters, and every past and present event that led to Justice and Ginger finally finding each other.

One Night - K.L. Kreig - 5 Stars
Seductive and sexy, One Night is a perfect short from K.L. Kreig. It was everything I expect from her writing, with a chance meeting, a sexy one-night, and the delicious promise of something more. The hero is an alpha, the heroine is full of life and snark, and the chemistry between them is explosive. ( )

What a fantastic collection from amazing authors. I already follow every one of these ladies and this collection just proves to me as to why.

INFATUATION by Willow Winters
This was perhaps one of my favorites of the whole collection. There was just something about it that I loved. The writing was exceptional and Willow's words seem to have me under a spell. I really wanted this story to not end or at least be turned into a full book. I wanted to know more about Alex and Lila and also the tradition and what was going to happen with his brother.

THE BILLIONAIRE'S BEGINNING by M. Never
A love story that was reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet. Simone and Ty. Mmmm Ty. I wish again that this novella was a full book. I loved the bantering between the two and the chemistry was off the chart. I also loved the side characters. The scene at the restaurant with Jenn was funny as hell.

DOCTOR DREAMY by LJ Shen
Sweet holy hell. If There was a place called Melt your panties then Dr Rhys Mathews would be owner and President because he is SMOKING hot. I love LJ's ability to make an alphahole lovable. Savannah is a feisty little thing. and together... your kindle doesn't stand a chance.

MALFEASANCE by K. Webster
The queen of taboo knows how to write an older man younger woman book. Judge Max is to die for and Dorian is a sweet young girl in need to protection. They both are searching for love and together they find it.

FIFTH AVENUE BLUES by Jade West
Jade knows how to write filthy in a way that is hotter than Hades. Emily is the sweet girl that is insecure for a plethora of reasons-- the main one being that she is not like the typical girl that society deems perfect. Kyle is the perfect man according to his fan base but in reality he pines for his dirty librarian. That mouth on him is the stuff most dirty talking men dream about having...

DATE NIGHT by Isabella Starling
Between Jade and Isabella It is a toss up of who can push my limits (If you have read Jade's book Bait or Isabella's book Pet you will know what I am talking about-- if you haven't get on reading those books). I am not sure what it is about these types of books but good lord they make me crazy hot. Cleo has dark fantasies and Finn is the man to give her what she wants. Let me just tell you that Flynn is sex on a stick. Definitely wish this book was full length or there were more like it.

BAD COP by A Zavarelli
Gray Justice and GInger Duke. From the first interaction you can feel the chemistry coming off these two. Former friends, to enemies, to lovers. A. Zavarelli did a phenomenal job with this book.

ONE NIGHT by K. L. Kreig
Bennet and Saine. After a night years before in which they offered each other solace during a painful time for each of them they moved on without another thought. Four years later they reconnect. And reconnect they did. It was hotter than Satan's Mistress.

I loved every one of these stories. EVERY. ONE. Which says something considering there is usually one or two that don't resonate with you in anthology type collections. Granted I might be biased since I already "closely observe" all of these authors. Just trust me. Buy the book. Read the book. Review the Book. You are welcome. ( )

Drawn to Him brings together a collaboration of hot romance authors to give you 8 novellas about the hot alphas we just can't resist!

I decided to start with A. Zavarelli's story, Bad Cop. Its a bit small town romance, a bit second chance love story. Ginger is not a very likable character. The town hates her, and she wasn't kind to the hero, Justice, when they were teens either. She let her friends bully him and never defended their friendship. 10 years have passed and Justice, now the town sheriff and military hero, is the one on the pedestal and Ginger has come back to town with not a penny to her name and ruined reputation. Their story was interesting but these two are frustrating! I wanted Ginger to explain herself and I wanted Justice to stop being so immature. Then you throw in Ginger's ex who is a crazy fucker, and things get interesting. For me, this was a solid 4 star story.

So, I skipped Fifth Avenue Blues by Jade West because a friend who LOVES smutty erotica said she felt it was a bit much for her. Y'all, can you imagine me reading it? No. It would be a disaster. I love some smut, but I am pretty vanilla. Thanks for the heads on this one to everyone who warned me :)

Next I decided to try Infatuation by Willow Winters because I love me a good insta-love Alexa Riley-ish story. I know not everyone devours these like I do, but I like what I like! This story started out with promise. I liked the mystery of why Alec seemingly lured Lila to the island and what secrets was he hiding. But then, the story just ended. I mean, literally just ended. No real answers, no real HEA (because it was all kind of up in the air in my opinion! He didn't even know if she would end up staying on the island long term!). So, for that alone, this story was 3 stars (4 stars for most of the story, then 2 stars for the terrible end!

I didn't read Malfeasance by K. Webster because her books make me uncomfortable. Like her 'taboo' stuff just creeps me out and gives me the heebie-jeebies. I'm sure not all her books are like that, but I'm trigger shy when it comes to her and will probably never read another one of her books.

Dr. Dreamy had me thinking of Grey's Anatomy the whole time, except it would be the version of Grey's if HBO produced it. HAWT. If you like your heroes on the alpha-hole side, get ready to love Dr. Matthews. This was my first LJ Shen story as well and I enjoyed her style. 4 stars!

Overall, the stories were short, sexy, and easy to devour in an hour or so! Perfect for a 'palate cleanser' between longer books! I read one story from this anthology in between each regular novel I read and it was great! I loved the quick pace and simple plot to give me something just enjoyable that didn't require me to be emotional or deep!

Other romance anthologies like Royally Mine, Alphas of Danger...then you will probably like Drawn to Him!
