Jaguars is beautiful cat has a spotted coat that looks a lot like that of leopard. A jaguars looks a lot like a leopard. Both cats have tweny coats covered with rosettes of black spots. But it's really not that difficult to tell jaguars and leopards apart. The jaguar's rosettes have one or two small dots in the middle. The leopard's do not. The jaguars also has a thicker body and a shorter tail than the leopard.
For thousands of years, the people of Central and South America have feared and admired jaguars. Some even believed that these cats had special powers. One of the most difficult animals to catch is the peccary, a piglike creature that travels in groups of fifty to a hundred animals. It simply waits in a tree until a herd of peccaries passes underneath, then leaps down and attacks one.
