I did enjoy this book, the romance was sweet, a pet mouse was cute, I'm glad Bowen found his happily-ever-after, but it all seemed much too abrupt for me. They had sex a day after they met - I get it, Bowen has only two weeks before he dies - but still. He didn't find time to call and say goodbye to his loving family and friends, he didn't do anything to make sure Human Alliance will survive after his death, but he found time to organize a romantic date - and don't get me wrong, I liked the date, but - I don't know, it was strange. Especially, that he kept having brain surgeries all the time, one after the other - I'm guessing a brain surgery is like sneezing in this world, because it didn't seem to have any effect on his strength or mental state, he spends time between his surgeries fighting with a walrus, swimming or having sex, no problem. By the way, it seems a bit strange to me that the underwater station deep in the sea is the best place to have brain surgeries, but what do I know about it? Maybe it is. I'm not trying to hate this book, as I said, I really liked it, but it was not perfect for me. Four stars. ( ) I was lucky enough to win an ARC of the book a few days before its release. I unfortunately didn't get the chance to read it until now. I love this world of the Psy and the Changeling and Humans Alliance. It's fascinating to watch the tentative way they are trying to come together for the good of the world. It's just kind of frustrating to see them all working towards the same goal but unable to trust the ones we've come to trust through their own books. This book was a little different from the others in the series. It was more of a building of the relationship between Bo and Kaia. The stuff with the Consortium and the other races came into play later in a big way. But most of it was Bo fighting what was in his head while falling for Kaia. I will say that the thing with Bo and his chip was kind of anti climactic. I thought it would be a bigger deal with a bit more drama and conflict. But that part kind of fizzled out. I did love Krycek in this. He's one of my favorites and I love seeing him get involved and learn to play nice with others, as well as he knows how to "play nice." And I loved mention of Dark River and Snow Dancer. I've missed them. Overall, this one wasn't quite as exciting as some of the others, but we got a look into another changeling group and saw a new couple find love. And that's all good in my book. Other than that I adored it. I have been waiting a long time for Bowen Knight to get his story and I was not disappointed. Finally a great story about the humans in this Psy-Changeling series! The world build and foundation was fantastic. Add to that I got my second wish come true. A lot more about the Black Sea changelings. The romance between BlackSea's Kaia Luna and Bowen is stormy, turbulent and passionate. It is definitely an 'adult' romance, it is not erotic nor hard core in any way. It is sweet and loving. There are a lot of things going on and both Bowen and Kaia are unsure who the enemy is. Things point to many of their most trusted and loved. The suspense keeps you on your toes. While this story is mostly about the romance between Kaia & Bowen, there is no lack of action as they struggle to find the traitors to the Trinity and peace. I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who loves great suspense with a solid adult romance. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
