This children's picture book follows the biography of Harvey Milk and his activism. It talks about the history of the pride flag and the pride movement. I personally loved this book and think that it is about something really important. It is important to note that this book may be controversial to some to have read in a public elementary school. This story is about the history of the Pride Flag, as well as Harvey Milk. Harvey Milk was an activist, and the first openly gay person to be elected to public office in the United States. He was one of the creators of the Pride flag along with Gilbert Baker. The flag gives people hope, and a sense of community. The flag was revealed on June 25, 1978. 5 months later, Harvey Milk was assassinated. The pictures are simple yet colorful. This book is full of hope and pride.

I liked the book because it informed me about the start of pride as well as the start of the rainbow flag. I love the positivity it brings in getting to understand and know pride

It was nice learning about how pride got started and the beginning of the rainbow flag. Interesting how it first had 8 colorful stripes and now it has 6 stripes.
