Bullfighter Coke and his lover, rodeo clown Dillon, are back in the second part of their story – and what a story it turned out to be. There are revelations about Coke’s past that made my mind boggle. The story picks up with Coke’s perspective on Sam’s accident, the one that landed him in a coma in the previous book. Coke and Dillon have to work hard to keep growing their relationship, and several of the secondary characters that have been part of this series continue to add a unique flavor to the proceedings. All in all, this is a great installment of the continuing story of cowboys, rodeo participants, and the love these tough men share between them when nobody is looking. With settings from Texas to Idaho and Louisiana, this book is entertaining, suspenseful, and scorching hot.

Coke has been a bullfighter forever, or so it seems. His job is to make sure the bull riders don’t get hurt when they get thrown by the beasts - by facing off with the bulls, no less - and Coke takes this responsibility very seriously. He has already almost killed himself and ruined his health in the line of duty. Now that he has found Dillon and they are beginning to share their lives not just inside the arena, Coke has a few adjustment to make. Like learning to deal with Dillon’s family on top of all the cowboys who need his help with all kinds of crises. And boy there are a few in this installment! The one thing that might break him is Dillon finding out the truth about Coke’s family and past – both of which Coke has buried so deep he believed nobody could find any of it.

Dillon loves Coke with everything he is. Taking him to his home in Idaho, despite the snow that might just freeze the Texan on the spot, makes Dillon feel like they are becoming a couple. He becomes better at protecting Coke from the zillion phone calls each day so his bullfighter can get the rest he needs. But the one thing that keeps bugging him is the mystery of Coke’s nonexistent past. Coke won’t discuss it, his friends either don’t know or won’t tell, and when Dillon finally decides to do some research with the help of the Internet, what he finds shocks him to the core. It explains why Coke refuses to speak about it, and when Dillon tries to let Coke know it does not matter to him in the least, Coke runs. What a mess!

If you like the Roughstock world created by BA Tortuga in this series, if you want to find out more about Dillon, Coke and their many friends, and if you’re looking for a read that is entertaining, sometimes intense, exciting, and full of hot loving, then you will probably like this novel as much as I did. I can’t wait for the next one!
