This book is about Wordy Birdy, who loves to talk because she has a lot to say. She says things like "I like spaghetti and unicorns, and library books, and polka dots and standing on my head..." All of the talking means she's not a very good listener. This bothers her friends and leads her into a dangerous situation. I think this book is a fun read at any point in the school year and allows students to learn about finding their voice but also learning to be good listeners.

This is a fun, humorous and quirky book about a bird that talks, talks, talks all day long. I bet you know someone who fits that description. Wordy Birdy is so busy yacking about everything under the sun that she doesn’t listen to her three friends even when they warn her of danger.

I love the fact that the three friends hang in there for their friend even though she doesn’t listen to a word they say. Wordy Birdy walks into a huge problem.
