Mo is the shortest member of his basketball team, so passing is sometimes difficult for him. With enough practice, will he be ready for the big game?

This is a sweet story about a simple enough problem that will probably resonate with young readers (if not this specific sports scenario, perhaps another one is happening in their lives). I loved how Mo is still struggling at the end but also able to accomplish something big.

The illustrations are lovely, and Mo is an adorable character. It's also nice to have a book with an African-American child as the protagonist (and race is not the main issue of the book). In addition, the coach is female and there's still more diversity in the other, secondary characters. ( )
