Great patterns that I'm anxious to stitch, plus an overview of the basics for anyone new to this and instructions on how to create your own improper designs. #ImproperCross-stitch #NetGalley ( ) With clear instructions to guide both fledgling and advanced cross-stitchers, Pierson-Cox’s Improper Cross-stitch provides plenty of snark and hilarity. Find the perfect piece to express your true feelings in humourous fashion! While I myself do not cross-stitch, it requiring greater vision than I can provide, I enjoyed flipping through the designs. My sister does cross-stitch, and I plan to get her a copy. I loved the cover, with its mooning gnome. My favourite, though, was the cat lady design. ***Many thanks to Netgalley and St Martin's Press for providing an egalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. Improper Cross-Stitch 35+ Properly Naughty Patterns by Haley Pierson-Cox is a book I requested and the review is voluntary. On the review copies, we don't see all of the patterns but see the titles of them all and boy does this book look fun! I want to start cross stitching for this book! I tried about 40 years ago and didn't have the patience but I probably could do it now with this book motivating me. It has tips, what the newbie will need, etc. I am excited to start! Some of the titles included, I Will Cut You, and it showed butcher knives, lol. Stitchers gonna Stitch, Badass Garden Gnomes, and Home is Where my Hound is. LOL The Gnomes is the one I wanted to see! They are funny and would make great gifts! I received this e-book ARC through Net Galley from St. Martin's Press in exchange for a truthful review. The ARC contained only 30 of the 128 pages, so I cannot give a review of the complete work. The pages which I was able to read were cute and perfect for a novice to cross-stitch. The book starts with the basics of cross stitch and ends with tips for displaying your creations and even creating some of your own naughty patterns. The few patterns included in the 30 pages to which I had access were colorful, witty and fun. I wouldn't categorize them as "naughty" per se (I only saw one curse word in my reviewed pages). The patterns are in chapters entitled "Hipster Snark", "Ironically Domestic", "Talk Nerdy to Me" and "Alphabets", to give you an indication of the pattern topics. A fun, witty, nerdy, and irreverent craft book for the modern cross-stitcher. Sometimes it's good to be a little...improper. Profane, funny, and smart, Haley Pierson-Cox's IMPROPER CROSS-STITCH invites the modern crafter to bring personality and humor to their cross stitch projects. From a fully designed "Damn it feels good to be a crafter" to the beautiful Art Deco inspired "fuck," Haley's patterns are fresh, lively and just what the crafter ordered. In this book, she'll introduce readers to the joys of stitching the naughty, the profane, the irreverent, and the just plain awesome. First, she starts with a basic lesson in cross-stitch technique, no previous experience required. Then, once readers know your way around an embroidery hoop and a skein of floss, the books moves on to the designs--35 in total, ranging from hip, to nerdy, to ironically domestic--where Haley encourages crafters to embrace their inner snark with gleeful abandon. Her easy to follow instructions and colorful designs can make a cross stitcher out of anyone. In all her years of crafting, Haley's learned many things, but this simple fact remains one of the most important: There is absolutely nothing in this world quite so satisfying as enshrining something deeply inappropriate within the delicate stitches of a cross-stitch sampler. It's truly one of life's great delights! Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
