Super Manny returns in this follow-up to his first adventure, chronicled in Super Manny Stands Up!, enjoying many games of make-believe with his best friend, Super Gertie. Playing in the park one day, the two super-heroes look around and realize that there is trash everywhere, and that the other park users seem oblivious to the fact. Gertie suggests that they do something, and together the two friends begin to clean up, eventually inspiring everyone in the community to pitch in, and help make the park pristine again...

Like its predecessor, Super Manny Cleans Up! pairs an engaging story from author Kelly DiPucchio about youngsters doing the right thing with appealing artwork from illustrator Stephanie Graegin that captures all the joy of their make-believe games. I always enjoy stories which highlight the importance of imaginative play in a child's life, and I particularly like that this kind of play is an important tool for the characters here, in finding the strength and inspiration to make positive change. The illustrations here are every bit as charming as in the last book, with the imaginary adversaries from Manny and Gertie's games being depicted in a semi-see-through way, to emphasize their make-believe state. Recommended to anyone who read and enjoyed the first book about Super Manny, as well as to those looking for children's stories about the issues of littering, and taking care of our green spaces. ( )
