Audience: 2 year olds- 5 year olds

Curriculum ties: Learning the ABC’s and recognizing colors and animals

Personal response: This book would be great for the youngest readers because as they learn the alphabet they can also spot out other animals; colors and objects all artwork corresponds with each letter making it an excellent way to learn the alphabet. It is also a great book for dads and kids to read together. This book is great for the kids that are just learning their letters (ABC’s.)

Genre: Informational

Style: 5 Stars

Review: Little Brown Bear and Papa Brown Bear spend the day together. They go through the alphabet finding different items and activities that start with each letter of the alphabet. This book is a good example of an informational book because it shares accurate information about the alphabet. This book would be helpful in increasing students' vocabulary.

This book did not receive any awards. This book will be good in kindergarten and in the beginning of first grade because it is not as basic as just listing the letters, it has a story and it has in bold the letter that comes next in the paragraph. So not only do the children have to have an idea of which letters come next, but they can also read it to find the bold letter. This story is about baby bear and papa bear doing activities together and baby bear says which letters of the alphabet their activity starts with. This book deals with the alphabet, and doing fun activities that start with letters from the alphabet. We will read the book together and I'll point out each letter that is being used and I'll write the activity that starts with the letters on the board. Once we have finished the book we will look at all the activities and I'll assign an activity/letter to every student. Then they will do back to their tables and they will draw that activity and they will also have to write the letter and the word that goes with it. Then we can put all those pages of letters/activities together and make an ABC activity book.

I thought this was cute for an ABC book. It was pretty creative. It's about a father bear and a litle bear out for the afternoon. The little bear goes through the afternoon to recite the ABCs. He finds an apple for A, bats for B, catch for C, etc. It was a cute story. The illustrations were pretty good. It was nothing spectacular, but pretty good. I'd read it to a young child learning their ABCs. I think kids learn better when they are given examples of words that start with specific letters. It's great for teaching them to read. ( )
