When an elephant plants himself in the road and refuses to move, the people of Prickly Valley try all sorts of methods to get him to go! Finally a little girl just decides to ask him to leave! The elephant then decides to get up and leave. This book was so cute! The townspeople try so many different things to get them to leave and none of them work. Finally a little girl decided to listen and ask nicely and then he moves! I think this shows kids that things can get done by communicating and listening to other people! Zachariah Ohora illustrates this simple tale of an elephant who comes to down, sits town in the middle of the road, and refuses to move. The townspeople try everything, but he won't budge until a little girl in a hijab suggests asking him. The mayor, a short-haired woman in pearls and a skirt suit, laughs at this idea, but Marigold has faith, and it works! It turns out Poe was waiting on a friend...and it also turns out Poe was sitting on his friend. Problem solved, the two leave peacefully. Funny illustrations, and a message that listening is important for understanding behavior - a lesson for grown-ups and kids alike. Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

This book is silly, which kids will like. It makes a fun read-aloud, although I think a little more for a one-on-one audience than a big group. Elementary-aged children will enjoy it. The illustrations are fitting to the tone. ( )
