R. A. (Sir Raymond) Ferrall was a frustrated journalist in his youth, but later when he became anchored in a wholesale grocery business he never lost an opportunity of striking out in all directions and in Tasmanian terms became something of a big fish in a small pond. He was noted at one stage for the number of public company directorships he held, as well as giving a great amount of time to communal undertakings. When Christopher Skase made a bid for Qintex, of which R.A. was chairman, he decided he couldn't beat Skase, so he joined him, and that was the start of a great commercial empire which later crashed in flames. He had retired some years before the fateful inferno. He was a foundation director of what was an all-time famous Tasmanian public company - ENT Limited. He had a 25 year association with a man he believes was one of Tasmania's greatest ever commercial leaders - Edmund Rouse... these characters and others make this book fascinating reading.
