I really enjoyed this read, especially in comparison with other parenting books that are out there: KJ is able to put most of her suggestions/recommendations in this book in a light and more positive tone. The only thing I would suggest is that it may not be applicable to ALL parents in ALL stages of parenting. But otherwise, a good find! ( )Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. A humorous and honest look at parenting. I enjoyed reading it while home with my newborn. I selected this book as part of an Early Reviewer giveaway because, as a parent, I often feel like I am not happy enough, not energetic enough, not giving enough. I thought this book might have some insight into aligning what I want with what I perceive I have. I read this book over the course of about six months, setting it down and forgetting about it. I am not a stay at home mom, so there was a large part of the author's perspective that didn't pertain to me. Most of the author's solutions boiled down to paying someone else to do the things you don't want to do. Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. A helpful, engaging look at how to tackle the challenges of parenthood in a way that makes you (and by extension, your family) happier. I enjoyed it. Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. It was okay, I guess. I found it underwhelming. A week from now, I doubt I will remember any of the specifics. A lot of this seems to boil down to "calm down" which isn't bad advice but it also isn't particularly revelatory. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
In all the writing and reporting KJ Dell'Antonia has done on families over the years, one topic keeps coming up again and again: parents crave a greater sense of happiness in their daily lives. In this optimistic, solution-packed book, KJ asks: How can we change our family life so that it is full of the joy we'd always hoped for? Drawing from the latest research and interviews with families, KJ discovers that it's possible to do more by doing less, and make our family life a refuge and pleasure, rather than another stress point in a hectic day. She focuses on nine common problem spots that cause parents the most grief, explores why they are hard, and offers small, doable, sometimes surprising steps you can take to make them better. Whether it's getting everyone out the door on time in the morning or making sure chores and homework get done without another battle, How to Be a Happier Parent shows that having a family isn't just about raising great kids and churning them out at destination: success. It's about experiencing joy--real joy, the kind you look back on, look forward to, and live for--along the way. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
