Sonia Sotomayor was a little girl that grew up in a poor neighborhood in New York City. She wanted to be a detective when she grew up, but after being diagnosed with diabetes, she found out that being a detective wasn't possible. One day when she was watching a show on tv, Sonia realized that she wanted to become a judge instead. After college Sonia became assistant district attorney and then a judge for the U.S. Court in Manhattan. This is when she became the city's first Hispanic federal judge. The life of Sonia Sotomayor was organized like a timeline from the time she was a little girl until the day that her dream of becoming a judge came true. I liked this story because it shows that even if you don't have everything growing up, you can still become successful adult. ( ) This picture biography tells the story of Sonia Sotomayor starting with her childhood where she faced many difficulties; growing up in a poor area of town, being diagnosed with diabetes and losing her father at a young age. Sonia worked hard in school to be able to have a life like she wanted a deserved. She planned to become a judge, the one that she saw on tv. She attended Princeton and worked her way to becoming a judge and ultimately a Supreme Court justice. This biography shows how anyone can overcome the life they were born into, rise above, and make a life that they want and deserve, if they work hard enough. Sonia Sotomayor shows that ordinary people can indeed achieve their dreams. The book tells of the adversity Sonia had to overcome to live her dreams, from her social economic background to the the death of her father at an early age. She triumphs over it all by attending Princeton and Yale to become a lawyer.
