Oh My WOW! I read the first book in this new series and flew through it, this book was no different! I had to force myself to put it down at 1 in the morning and finish the next morning. Steamy, suspense, passion, what's not to love? I did have some issues with the prologue, couldn't figure out where it was going, but as soon as I get into the book and remembered the characters from book 1 I didn't have any problems.

Love it and hope there's more coming!

Listened to audio narrated by Brianna Bronte. Syn has been betrayed and abused by her family, her family has done unspeakable things to Ivan's and she has been on the run since her family was arrested. Ivan is a Russian Mobster who has worked for years to take down Syn's family, discovers her in his home, after she befriends his daughter. They have both been attracted to each other since they met, despite their age difference, (which weirded me out a little until I found out he had his daughter at 13). For me there was a disjointedness to the storyline and suspension of disbelief was problematic. He corners her and propositions her, she goes from fearing him to giving him her virginity, then she's back on the run. Ivan hunts Syn down, trying to protect her from those hunting and trying to kill her. He basically forces her to choose between being with him or facing her pursuers. There's some ugly feelings as she feels like his whore, then another stutter jump and she's agreeing to 'appear' to be involved with him to trap her family but she wants it to appear 'real' as if they truly love each other. Scenes follow that are hard to tell whether they are pretending or real, even the inner dialogue will keep you wondering. Sometimes too much going on, is exactly that too much.

This booked confused me at so many parts. This plot had the ability to be good but then there were just so many things that were hard to follow. I also didn't understand the insta change with Ivan. I mean when they did get together it was sparks and fireworks so that was good. I love this author but i feel like she tried to use descriptor adjectives that were too big or didn't seem to fit. Lot of potental her but not my favorite by the author. ( )

First, let me say that I feel you need to read Book 1 in the series in order to understand the characters & the background without being lost. With that being said, this was a very complex plot with violence & erotic undertones. The characters are intense & complicated. Their chemistry & affection are over the top. They have both escaped from horrible situations & thought the worst was behind them. Unfortunately their past comes calling again. Can they survive? ( )
