What a great book 2! It's been awhile since I read Hidden Talents, but not only did I fall right back in with these kids, the way Lubar wove the story together was impressive - and fun. I did not see that final scene coming. It was perfect. ( )

I enjoyed sequel to "Hidden Talents". This story opens from a different character's view. In True Talents was told in first person by Martin, the young man who could other people's deepest and darkest fears and secrets. In this book, Trash is the first person telling his story. He has telekinetic powers and when he robs a bank, his powers are discovered by someone who want to use them in a not-so civilized manner, he is kidnapped, and tortured in order to test his powers. Trash's friend, Martin, and all his other friends from Edgeview Alternative School come to to aid him in overcoming his adversary. Good read for middle to high schoolers. ( )

this book was AMAZING one of the best i've ever read. A little scary and gross at some parts but other ways it rocked! I recommend it to people who like to get into a little trouble and like an adventure! ( )

Tough topics: death, special talents
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no it’s Eddie Thalmayer. Eddie has a special talent where he can move things with his mind. Eddie is in a testing lab for killing a man with his powers, or so he thought. Eddie’s death was faked by a guy named Bowlder. Eddie escapes from the testing lab when Bowlder was not around.
All of Eddie’s “talented” friends all end up in Philadelphia for many different reasons. All of them, except for Lucky, they found each other in different areas of Philadelphia. Lucky is found in the hospital. All of them are staying in a hotel. When Torchie goes to get ice, Bowlder captures all of them that are in the bedroom. Torchie found the room empty and knows that Bowlder went back to his house with them. Bowlder puts them in his basement jail cell with a guy, Don Thurston, the guy that Eddie thought he had killed.
Don, Eddie, Martin, Cheater, Trash, and Flinch all come up with a plan to get back at Bowlder. Torchie and Lucky come to Bowlders house and get all of them out of the jail cell so that they can all get back at Bowlder. Lucky goes back to the hospital. Eddie and everyone except for Don and Eddie go out start their plan to get back at Bowlder. Don had to take care of some business that was so dangerous that he had been killed doing it. Eddie and all his friends are on their own to destroy Bowlder. To get their revenge on Bowlder they make it look like a bunch of his experiments went wrong by using their “talents” to make the experiments blow up.
The best part about this book TRUE TALENTS is when Eddie’s friends find out that Eddie is not dead, that part is really funny. My least favorite part of this book is when Bowlder captures Lucky from the hospital.
The people that I think should read this book are teens because this book is really funny and has little suspense, most teens kind of like books like that.
I give this book a rating of 4.6 out of 5. This book is super funny and I like books that are like that, and so do other people.

This book is part two to Hidden Talents. This book, the gang from Edgeveiw is back, but this story is written from Eddie "Trash" Thalmayer's point of view. He's in trouble for using his powers to kill a man. He escapes from a lab, and finds that his friends are all in Philly for different reasons. They team up to save Trash, and help him find his parents. This book keeps you on your toes, and is funny. I give this book a 5

Torchie can set things on fire, Trash can move things with his mind, Lucky finds lost objects, Flinch can predict the future, Cheater can read minds, and Martin can see into people’s soul. They just want normal lives, unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. When Trash accidentally tests his powers at a bank, stealing a fistful of cash, he is kidnapped by the leader of a dark company. Cheater, Lucky, Flinch, Torchie, and Martin team up to save him, and discover their true talents in the process.

I liked this book for many reasons. One reason is that even though I didn't read the first book it was still pretty easy to understand. Another reason is because it seemed so real, but you know that it isn’t, funny at times, but also serious. So serious in fact, that it involves death. But I really think that added to the whole drama aspect of the book. Also, the characters seemed so life-like, like they actually had feelings, hobbies, different personalities, and many other things that all real-life people have.

Some things I didn't like are that I constantly found myself turning back to figure out what it was talking about. Also I found myself turning to the back to figure out what character had what talent. Also the book didn't seem very free flowing to me. It seemed to stay on a topic for too long. I would recommend it for grades 6+, mostly because of its language and length. ( )
