This fourth book in Merrillee Whren’s Front Porch Series is my favorite. It is not necessary to read the previous books in this series to enjoy this one as each works as a stand-alone novel. However, I have enjoyed all the books in this series and strongly encourage readers of Christian Romance to read all of them!

Car problems leave Nashville-bound aspiring singer/songwriter Amanda Reynolds stuck in the small East Tennessee town of Pineydale. Mitchell Cunningham, who owns the local garage, finds her on the side of the road and tows her car to his shop. When it is evident that the car is not worth repairing, Mitch arranges for Amanda to stay with his Aunt Charlotte while she works to save money so that she can continue her journey.

Amanda learns that she enjoys the people of Pineydale but is determined that not even her growing feelings for Mitch will derail her dream of making it to Music City. As hard as it is for Mitch, he helps her follow her dream.

The two of them experience emotional struggles as they try to balance their feelings for each other against Amanda’s career path. Should Mitch back off and leave Amanda to pursue her music career? Is it possible for Amanda to find a balance between music and life with Mitch? I became immersed in following the ups and downs of their relationship. Of course, I was pulling all along for love to triumph, but wondering how this could happen.

As always, I found it refreshing to pick up a well written romance that is not littered with foul language or steamy sex scenes. It is also good to see Christian values interwoven into the relationship between the principal characters.

Pick up a copy of this book and get to know the residents of Pineydale. Follow Amanda’s pursuit of her dream and see where it takes her.
