Although there were fascinating stories, I felt like he was on fast forward the entire just rushing through each sentence simply reading it. ( ) I have not read much about Nazi-hunting but I ran across a series on The History Channel called Hunting Hitler that got me interested in the people who do it. It was very educational. It made me angry that instead of bringing forth these individuals for the world, many nations (including Israel!) secreted them away for their own purposes. An interesting read. Honestly, this is not a book I would have picked up on my own. I am not super into historical texts (actually I actively avoid them), but my father and so had a deal. I read one of his books and then he reads one of mine. So, he chose this book for the two of us to read. Killing the SS is one of those books that made me realize that monsters really do exist. Something that I also found horrifying was how so many people defended the monsters, even when they knew what horrors they had caused. It was interesting to learn about, but still made me think especially with the time line being so recent. It is weird to imagine that these atrocities that took place less than 100 years ago and the effects of them which are still noticeable. I am glad that I read this book though with my dad as I really did learn a lot of the history of the Holocaust and what transpired after the war ended. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

"Confronting Nazi evil is the subject of the latest installment in the mega-bestselling Killing series. As the true horrors of the Third Reich began to be exposed immediately after World War II, the Nazi war criminals who committed genocide went on the run. A few were swiftly caught, including the notorious SS leader, Heinrich Himmler. Others, however, evaded capture through a sophisticated Nazi organization designed to hide them. Among those war criminals were Josef Mengele, the "Angel of Death" who performed hideous medical experiments at Auschwitz; Martin Bormann, Hitler's brutal personal secretary; Klaus Barbie, the cruel "Butcher of Lyon"; and perhaps the most awful Nazi of all: Adolf Eichmann. Killing the SS is the epic saga of the espionage and daring waged by self-styled "Nazi hunters." This determined and disparate group included a French husband and wife team, an American lawyer who served in the army on D-Day, a German prosecutor who had signed an oath to the Nazi Party, Israeli Mossad agents, and a death camp survivor. Over decades, these men and women scoured the world, tracking down the SS fugitives and bringing them to justice, which often meant death. Written in the fast-paced style of the Killing series, Killing the SS will educate and stun the reader."--provided by publisher. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
