This book is very descriptive and children can relate to the settings presented in the book. Whether looking at the illustrations or imagining what they look like, children imaginations are supported through the descriptive vocabulary. I would use with Kinder & 1st grade. This book is perfect for visualizing. It is full of rich vocabulary and beautiful illustrations. It is simple to read but also provides the reader with the possibility of some higher level thinking which leaves it open to create writing lessons. I would read this book to a second grade class, but older classes may still enjoy it. A little boy discovers he can use all his senses to explore the world he lives in. When he first wakes up, he notices all the colors of life. In the evening he notices all the sounds of night. When going to the bakery and preparing for his grandmother’s birthday, he notices all the different smells. When the little boy and his brother go for a walk in the woods, he notices all the things he touches and how they feel. This story is considered realistic fiction because everything that takes place is real and could happen in the real world. The little boy is using different senses and most other children can also use and explore with. A teacher could use this book while teaching children about the five senses. The teacher could show the students how the little boy in the story is using some of his senses and then ask the class what other ways they use their senses. There is not much of a plot in this story. It consists of four different events that are separate and have to do with the sense he is using and what he notices. There isn’t much of a storyline, but only lines of descriptions and feelings. Media: Watercolor Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
