Cats are done with humans' crap. For too long they have put up with baby talk, the humiliation of holiday costumes, and the social injustice of being told, "No." They will not sleep through this anymore. We humans have woken the beast, and in this book they have gathered together to reclaim their voice, loudly and repeatedly until we pay attention. Watch the uprising unfold, through anthems such as "Redefine Terms," "Accepted," "Decide," "A New Dawn," and "Just What Do You Think You're Doing?" Show support for your feline friends and try to understand why they're so spitting mad.… (mehr)

Oh, my! The cat uprising has begun! But beings cats, it’s a gentle uprising. But being cats, most still have claws, so beware! Just because a cat shows its belly, it doesn’t mean it’s safe to rub it. Through the delicious poems in this collection, humans will get a cat’s eye view of how cats think, what they are planning, and what is in store for the lucky people who abide with them. Accompanying the well-written poems are scads of lovely cat picture, because, of course, cats are very photogenic. This collection is recommended for everyone who has a cat, who likes cats, and especially for those who don’t like cats, because you need to be warned about the future uprising. Enjoy! ( )

Anyone who has a cat knows that felines are plotting to take over the world. They have already enslaved much of humanity....it's only a matter of time. Every cat lover knows this is true.....but we all continue to love and adore our kitties. :) It's all a part of their insidious plan.

Claw the System is a collection of photos of cats and poetry expressing their disenchantment with humans and their habits, foibles and just existence in general (other than filling their food dishes and pats when ordered). Some of the commentary is obviously thinly veiled reflections and thoughts about the current political and social atmostphere.....but it's not overdone or ridiculous. Just funny. :) The poems are creative, outragously fun to read, and cute.....yet poignant. Loved it!

I loved this book! I often think my cats roll their eyes and shake their heads at nearly everything I do....and this book just upheld that belief 100%. The color pictures of cute kitties are great, and the poems are cute. This book is by the same people who published I Could Pee On This and other similar books. Definitely a must-read for cat lovers!

Unfortunately my cats read my galley of this book and want to know where they can go to join the uprising. They keep calling me their "minion.''

Claw the System by Francesco Marciuliano is an enjoyable quick read. The pictures of cute cats throughout the book are the best part. Of the poems, Surprise Yourself was my favorite. As someone who loves cats, I enjoyed this book. I don’t know how people who prefer dogs would feel about it.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. ( )

Hilariously funny poems from the cats' POV. A little insight into what a cat might think about their humans. I recognised my cats in a lot of the poems. ( )

Welcome to the Catnip Cabal

(Full disclosure: I received a free e-ARC for review through NetGalley.)

THE PRESS
There is nothing more important
Than the press
There is nothing more indispensable
Than the press
There is nothing we need more right now
Than the press
Of my paw
Against the lips
Of anyone spewing hatred
Right after that paw has been in the litter box

MENTAL HEALTH DAY
When you can’t lift your head up
When you can’t raise your hopes up
When you can’t get yourself up
To face another day
Remember
You can still bring your leg up
And lick yourself down there
For like hours if you want
Because you have to take care of yourself
Before you can take on this world

The cats are fed up with our bullshit - and, in addition to silly Halloween costumes, tasteless kibble, and sleeping past 3AM, I've got to believe that the 2016 election has a little something to do with it. Normally felines would not deign to involve themselves in something as crass as human politics, but come on! The death of democracy and all that jazz. Plus where are they going to get their cat dancers and laser pointers if Drumpf starts a trade war with China, hmmm?

The clues are sometimes subtle, but look closely and you'll see 'em. With chapter headings like Recognize, Resist, Revolt, and Rebuild, and poems celebrating the "press" and advocating for mental health days, these cats are obviously #withher. They dislike voter disenfranchisement almost as much they hate your best friend's handsy toddler.

So this is a cute idea that gets stale about halfway through the book. Unsurprisingly, my favorites were the more radical poems in the bunch. Some are straight-up meme-worthy; the rest are good for a chuckle or two, hence the middling rating. The cat photos range from adorable to downright fierce.

Should you find yourself guffawing at the very idea of feline resistance, you owe it to yourself to read Jason Hribal's Fear of the Animal Planet: The Hidden History of Animal Resistance.
