A devastating story that focuses on the themes of drugs, crime, and hopelessness. I did not see the twist coming. The story and art was very impressive. If you're a fan of noir and crime stories, read this one. ( ) The story never really got off the ground for me and centering it around a shell of a character made it even worst. The story truly suffers when the focus is on Ellie/Angela or whatever her name is because much of what is being depicted are treated as minor details. Much of the important details of her life were mostly rushed, glossed over and very generic. The beginning/ending was underwhelming. I guess I was looking for something that wasn't there. This wasn't as bad as I thought based on reviews I've seen on here. I liked the bit about it makes you question if drugs are fully bad or not. It points out how some artiest created their best work on drugs and when off drugs their work wasn't as good. For artiest reason I can see why someone would defend drugs. I have no idea if Brubaker takes drugs or not, I'm assuming h doesn't, but I liked the fact you couldn't hear his opinion on the matter, he left it to the reader. I didn't like this because I was a little confused how this connected to the Criminal series. It does with the fact t bring back some characters, but it doesn't because it's a whole other story. I'll have to relook at the Criminal series to refresh my memory. I don't recommend this book without reading the Criminal series first. For stand-alone stories, this doesn't seem like it's for new Brubaker readers. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
