This is a cute children's book about a little chicken, who fears animals he has imagine to come alive while he is sleeping. Mother chicken shows him who's the boss when it comes to defending her little chicken. The "what if various various animals come into my room" are a common phrase in the book and I like how that adds depth to make the book interesting. It's such a cute, warming book to read to children at night, especially for bedtime.

The power of storytelling is amazing as it can wash away fears to inspire bravery and love. This book demonstrates it through the mother chicken telling stories of how to be brave with storytelling. With this, this can inspire children to come up with stories to help cope with fear of whatever they have in mind. All in all, it's cute, enjoyable book to read with such a simple humorous language. This is a delaying-bedtime story of the "what if" variety. In this one, the what ifs are "what if various animals come into my room", with the vigorous and active response.

Momma's language is over-the-top in its cutesiness, but that just adds to the fun of the book. This is a more active going-to-bed book, so you should probably read it at the BEGINNING of your bedtime rotation instead of as your last book before lights out. ( )
