I love dragons. I loved the characters in this one and the plot. Would've preferred it to be longer though. And for there to have been more exploration of the side effects of dragon stem cells. Because that plot line was awesome. And I would've liked to see the eggs hatch. Overall though I enjoyed reading this. Natalia was great with her badass sword fighting skills. Luke was sweet if not a little dumb. 4 stars. ( )

Series Info/Source: This is the second book in the Elemental Steampunk Tales and I bought this for Kindle.

Story (4/5): This was a fun and quick read. It was a nice diversion and a well done steampunk romance. I continue to really enjoy all the medical "science" that is included in these books. This book incorporated dragons into this world, which was so much fun. There is a great mystery here as well as some fun action and some romance.

Characters (5/5): The characters were well done and I loved the dragons! Natalia is a strong woman trying to make the best of a bad situation while doing the best for the dragon she guards. She has dreams of doing fantastic scientific work, which I enjoyed. Luke is a cryptozoologist that was helping Natalia get funding for her work until he was captured by a seedy biotech facility that left him very sick. He was well done and the two have excellent chemistry together. The addition of the dragon characters added even more fun to this novel.

Setting (4/5): This was set further out in the country than the previous books but in the same world. I continue to enjoy this steampunk Victorian world a ton.

Writing Style (4/5): Renwick has turned into a must read author for me, she has an easy to read writing style and her story and characters are always very well done. All of her books have been very fun escapist reads with a bit of a scientific bent to them!

My Summary (4/5): Overall this was another entertaining read set in Renwick’s steampunk world. All of the books in the Steampunk Tales series have been shorter but are still fun/quick reads that I really enjoy. Characterization is the strong point of these books but it is well balanced out with an intriguing mystery, action, and a fascinating world. I would recommend it to those who enjoy steampunk reads or historical fantasy that is heavy on romance and mystery. ( )
