About the author: quoting from the book's dust jacket, "Erica Silverman is a librarian and . . .the author of several children's books. She believes in the power of imagination to make the world a more compassionate and just place. . .Holly Hatam is the illustrator of the the #1 'New York Times' Bestseller, 'Dear Girl'. [and other popular titles]. Included in this work is an author's note and also a list of suggestions for further reading. This book is recommended for ages 4-8. Quoting from the book's cataloging page, "Summary: Susan loves her baby sister, Jackie, but as Jackie grows older and behaves more and more like a boy, Susan must adjust to having a brother, Jack, instead." Jack (not Jackie) is a light hearted and enjoyable story of two siblings who learn how to love each other just the way they are. Silverman takes an interesting approach, as the story is told from the sister, Susan's, point of view. Through descriptive language aided by colorful and truthful illustrations, Susan comes to realize that her little sister wants to be her little brother. Susan's point of view is honest and shows the real confusion a sibling may go through during a transition like this. I thoroughly enjoyed the love, honesty, and acceptance in this story. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
