I really wound up liking this read. I also loved how this was a scottish romance. This book had a nice balance between steemy scenes and also some really fun characters. I also really liked how we got both characters point of view. This book did handle one of my favorite troups in regency romacne and did it so well. This book was a super fun read and will def read more by this author in the future. ( )

The premise made this book look intriguing, but it was never able to hold my interest. The main characters were too wishy-washy for me to like, and plot lines were either not fleshed out or left unresolved.

Lady Clara Autenberry is completely disenchanted with her unpleasant fiancé. She devises an unusual plan. She tells him that she is pregnant with another man's child. This ruins her in his eyes. What's more is she is ruined in the eyes of society, so Clara flees to Scotland, to the hone of her brother, Marcus, the duke of Autenberry, and his wife, Alyse. She may alwas be a spinster, but at least the ruination and unavoidable gossip won't follow her.

When she mees Laird Hunt MacLarin, her thoughts of forever being alone all but flee in her mind. She is very much drawn to him. Hunt is equally enthralled with Clara, but due to a curse that has afflicted his father and grandfather, he feels he must always be unmarried. When Marcus suggests that Hunt marry his sister, it is for a specific reason - beyond the attraction. The thing is, Hunt needs an heir, but when men in his family line get close to fatherhood, they are beset by tragedy and they have all died.

Hunt has an unbelievable opportunity to become a father. As he has not impregnated Clara, he won't be affected by the curse. Maybe they can enjoy the carnal pleasures of husband and wife for a time, until the child is born, and then the can continue on living seperate lives, albeit husband and wife. A perfect plan.

No plan is foolproof, however. At first, Clara refuses Hunts offer of marriage. When she does choose to marry him, however, she knows she must tell him of the fact that she is not pregnant. Quite naturally, they fall for one another, and Marcus, indeed, does come under the threat of the curse.

This Scot of Mine was a fun story, full of steam, romance, the aforementioned curse, and unusual accidents. The story flowed quickly and had a terrific conclusion. This was a nice addition to a successful series. I look forward to continuing this series.

This Scot of Mine is the fourth book in The Rogue Files series, preceded by While the Duke Was Sleeping (2016) and The Scandal of it All (2017) and The Duke Buys a Bride (2018), to be followed by The Duke's Stolen Bride, due for release this fall.

Many thanks to Avon and to Edelweiss for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion. ( )

Clara invents a pregnancy to get out of a proposed marriage and instead ends up married to Hunt McLarin who needs a wife and heir but is under a curse. Clara's pregnancy solves the problem of the curse - he thinks.
This is a fun book, easy to read and the characters are interesting. The details of the curse are a little murky and everyone's acceptance of it seems odd (especially the English), but it's a cute romance as Clara and Hunt get to know each other. I usually find Sophie Jordan books a little frothy, but fun all the same. ( )
