I really loved this one. This particular Ghostwalker Gino thinks his darkness is far too great to find love. Through this particular adventure he learns that might not be the case. He might have a far bigger heart than expected. Typical to this series we have some seriously evil bad guys that need taking out....and our usual big bad Whitney that created this program. Watch as all the pieces align and one more couple find happiness together amidst the chaos, evil, and craziness. Not 100% necessary to read all the previous books first, but I highly recommend reading the first few to get an idea of the world this takes place in. Definitely worth taking a look at this exceptional series! Well, I could not get past page 70 on this one. It probably did not help that this is vol 14, so I am missing a lot of backstory, but the way the men think about the women, and the language used by the author is just not my thing. Nothing appealing about the story either with its drawn-out navel-gazing while getting ready for battle. DESCRIPTION, NOT REVIEW: Rescuing an industrial spy from the hands of a criminal mastermind is a suicide mission for the GhostWalkers. And there's no one more up to the task than Gino Mazza. He's the perfect killing machine--a man driven by demons so dark and destructive that his blighted soul has given up trying to find solace. But his laser-sharp focus on his target has transformed into something nearing desire. A treasonous senator dangled top secret GhostWalker data in front of a Chinese crime lord, and he bit. Zara Hightower, one of the world's leading experts on artificial intelligence, was sent in to psychically wipe the crime lord's computer network. She succeeded, but at a huge cost. Now she's the captive of a man who has descended into paranoid madness. Torture and death await her... But GhostWalkers never leave one of their own in enemy territory. And it's up to Gino to save Zara, or kill her if it turns out she's led them into a trap. Either way, heaven or hell won't stop him... keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Some of my favorite books ever are in the Ghostwalker series, but this book, just left me flat. There are very few scenes in the book that move the story forward. There is a lot of talking with Gino and his Ghostwalker friends trying to convince Zara that she is worthy of Gino. The only real conflict is between Zara and Bellisia, who had been in Whitney's compound together. As friends, they had shared everything, but now Zara must accept that Bellisia is married and has a life beyond what they shared as children. It seemed to me that Zara just needed to grow up a little. There is nothing wrong with being submissive, but when a protagonist repeatedly has to depend on others' perceptions of her to build up her self-esteem, I begin to dislike that character. Also, other books in the series have focused on the supernatural abilities of the female as well as the male characters. All of the things that make Zara unique are glossed over throughout the book, making her seem like a whiny, clingy female who has nothing to bring to the table. Overall, this was a descent story but doesn't come anywhere close to living up to the other books in this series. A disappointment. ( )
