This volume is the third in a series examining the mutual interaction of space exploration and society. Contributions include a study on the impact of space exploration on public attitudes; case studies of specific technologies such as integrated circuits that are claimed to be spinoffs from NASA's space program but are difficult to attribute to it directly; and NASA's influence on the world at large, including the use of nuclear power for U.S. spaceflight, new views of the environment, the impacts of application satellites and of the Apollo program on society, and the spawning of new disciplines like astrobiology, astrotheology, and astrosociology.
