Included in a blog post and resource list at https://booksbeyondbinaries.blog/2019/06/10/non-fiction-about-gender-and-trans-e... this was one of my most anticipated books of this year and it did not disappoint! this book is blurbed by so many of my favourite trans activists, authors and creators so: high hopes! gorgeous, fierce, full of power grace. uncompromising in its queerness and its tone, it felt super generous and vulnerable. there were so many moments of trauma but it was like twist was allowing them to breathe, to give them voice so they no longer hurt, so i never felt depressed or like it was too much? love, love, love this and so much respect to twist for this incredible collection. "In her powerful debut collection of poetry, Arielle Twist unravels the complexities of human relationships after death and metamorphosis. In these spare yet powerful poems, she explores, with both rage and tenderness, the parameters of grief, trauma, displacement, and identity. Weaving together a past made murky by uncertainty and a present which exists in multitudes, Arielle Twist poetically navigates through what it means to be an Indigenous trans woman, discovering the possibilities of a hopeful future and a transcendent, beautiful path to regaining softness."-- Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
