This entire series is a wonderful way to learn history or teach it to adolescents. I find today's generations seem to recall more when they learn through other people (pop songs, celebrity gossip, etc.), so what better way to teach history than through someone else's perspective? Yes, "authentic" diaries would be "better", but would the language really hold the modern student's attention? Did the diary writer know what WOULD be important in the context of history? Probably not. ( ) A favorite of mine from middle school, Where Have All the Flowers Gone chronicles the life of Molly Flaherty during the Vietnam War, in which her brother Patrick is serving overseas. Molly is a very likeable character, easily relatable to the young adults likely to be reading this book. As always with Dear America books, the historical aspects of this book are very interesting and add to the relevance of this book. Zeige 4 von 4 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
