This book just seems like it would be fun to read aloud. We are introduced to Bruce - a character that grows with the child into picture books and into the early readers stage. In it, we find 4 little goslings that want to play with Bruce. But Bruce does not want to play. He wants to walk by himself - but the goslings fall in line behind him. He tries to hide from them, but he is too big and sticks out from most of his hiding spots. At each hiding attempt it's easy to imagine how the book would sound read aloud. With each word drawn out just a little bit, acting as though you're searching for Bruce. The little geese find Bruce at every turn, he can't hide from them. In the end, Bruce and the ducklings are worn out for different reasons and all fall asleep together. ( )
