I've been pretty amazed with the previous volumes of this Hulk run and this one doesn't let me down either. Just think, from a pure horror bash, we've got the Immortal Hulk, complete with getting his heart torn out and eaten by Harpy, his poor wife Betty, while in the middle of a fight with a totally dead Jones who has been turned into the lovecraftian nightmare Abomination. Creature Feature! But this is not just an amazingly f**ked up emotional roller coaster fight scene (or three). This is deeply introspective and intuitive and psychological and just plain DEEP. At the same time. The pacing is pretty much brilliant. Deep introspective moments populating a massively gory all-out. Horror? Yes. Psychological thriller? Yes. New rules to Hulk? Absolutely. The gamma, the green door, the Underneath... is awesome. I feel like this has taken over my imagination in a way only Moore's Swamp Thing had managed, before. :) Al Ewing has earned a serious Fanboy here. :) Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Why this book:
_________________________________________________
The Feel:
HULK!
Favorite Character:
Joe Fixit. Hulk books need more Joe.
Least Favorite Character:
I dislike General Fortean. He’s everything that was wrong with Ross and Talbot, all those years ago, including being an ass and failing to realize that you don't mess with gamma or irradiated super beings.
Favorite Scene:
Men In Black and what looks like, could be, A.I.M. guys, but it could just be indistinct normal biohazard suits instead of A.I.M.’s beekeeper outfits.
The scene when Hulk realizes that both Blonski and Jones are inside this new Abomination. Woof.
Betty tearing through those mercenaries. Holy crap. And then, following that up by tearing the heart out of the Hulk. ...though in fairness, this isn’t the first time that Betty has torn Bruce Banner’s heart out.
Favorite Concept:
Gamma dogs, gamma bats, gamma gorillas, gamma ants, gamma fish, gamma this, gamma that: I love it when hulk's done right.
The multi-Hulk gamma golem was awesome.
Joe taking Banner’s body for a walk to a casino. And coming away in a suit and tie that fits.
WTF Moments:
And what they did to Rick Jones corpse really is an abomination.
Wisdom:
After everything that happened in the previous books, the reporter should know better.
The Unexpected:
Mr Fix-It, nice. Welcome back, Joe.

Pacing:
Well paced.
Last Page Sound:
I liked it. Not really a conclusion, or a new beginning. This was a reintro of whatever Rick and Emil are...and Betty. All down to the Green Door. We always seem to return to the Green Door in Ewing and Bennett’s Hulk stories...or more appropriately, their Hulk story. It’s all been part and parcel of the same story and should be collected as a single piece.
Author Assessment:
See Editorial Assessment below. Same issue.
Editorial Assessment:
The Editor could’ve stood a bit closer to this one and it would have worked as a piece of the previous one and a piece of the next one instead of standing as a separate piece.
