One of the best Westerns I have ever read. Will always remember the description of butter on the table forever. ( ) This book had some moments....brief moments....but as a package, it came up short for me. The chapters seemed to almost be unrelated short stories, but eventually, things would come up that could only be grasped having already read earlier chapters....so, just a weakly constructed package. Lin McLean is a genuine, caring young cowpuncher who pretty much raised himself, and is trying to find his way in the harsh world of the wild west. He has a soul....he has heart.....and it gets trampled on. You have to admire his grit and you want him to ultimately win....but it was a slog for me to get to the end. This is my first Wister, and it is an early one. I will try to keep an open mind as i approach the others on my shelf. Zeige 2 von 2 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

From the bestselling author of The Virginian comes Lin McLean, Wister's first novel, about a young cowboy from the Wind River country in Wyoming who tires of the dust and hard life and heads east to Boston to seek his fortune. In this novel after the young hero's first adventure with his elder brother and the bishop, a plot begins with the entrance of the biscuit-shooter, and steadily proceeds through climax and catastrophe to resolution. Newly designed and typeset in a modern 6-by-9-inch format by Waking Lion Press. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
