A terrific graphic novel for middle grade up. From birth to nomination to the Supreme Court, this follows this amazing woman through major events in her life. I have read a few books on her but I still learned a couple of new things. #1, she's left handed! Yeah for us lefties!
The art is great, text easy to read, and content informative and interesting! The world is missing a wonderful woman! Bye Ruth, we miss you! 😍 ( )

This graphic novel done in blues with red emphasis tells Ruth Bader Ginsburg's life story up until her time becoming a judge on the Supreme Court. Terms are defined, the book is heavily researched. Talks about RBG as a girl, student, and the beginnings of her career. There is much blocked text providing content. An accessible book celebrating the life and accomplishments of RBG. ( )

I had this book in hand for months, but darn it, I didn't get around to reading it until the weekend she passed away. :-( So I read it with a heavy heart, but still enjoyed the refreshing format--I've read several other RBG books for young people, so I knew a lot of the facts already, but it was nice to see them presented in an illustrated form. The last chapter of the book deals with her work on the Supreme Court, and so it is more abbreviated than the rest; instead of illustrating major events as comic book panels, that chapter just has a different spot portrait of her on each page, because there's so much more text. Includes a timeline of her life, and extensive source notes for all of the quotes used. The artwork is really good: it's drawn in blue and white, with little touches of red for emphasis, such as the "APPROVED" stamp on a legal document, or the slogans on the signs of Equal Rights protestors. I really like the cover image, too, the four portraits of her at different stages of her life. ( )

Wow! This was a fabulous book! I found it informative and deeply moving to learn how Ruth Bader GInsberg earned her way to becoming a Supreme Court justice. Not only that, but I learned more about her huge contribution to the area of gender equality under the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Cobstutution.

This book is a graphic novel which is presented as a biography of RBG from her birth until she became Supreme Court justice. Follwing that is a six-page narrative of the years afterward. This book is good both for older children and adults. More difficult terms are clearly explained with footnotes. Oddly enough, I myself finally learned the difference between a district court and a circuit court from reading this book.

I have a great appreciation for this marvelous woman who came from a rather modest background, but who has achieved so much and continues to work hard in her choses career. ( )

Becoming RBG is a graphic biography of U. S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. It covers her life from birth to the present day. It seems to have been written for elementary students as terms such as "federal government" are defined and politicians such as McCarthy are discussed. Author Debbie Levy goes into detail on the cases that RBG brought in to the courts while a lawyer that advanced women's rights. She also gives details on the cases that RBG decided as a district court judge. RBG's plan to advance civil rights step by step is shown both in her life as an attorney, district court judge as well as while she has been on the Supreme Court.

I found the book engaging. Initially I was surprised by the detail RBG's court cases were given. However, i quickly realized that any biography of RBG would have to explain why she brought certain cases to court over others and what she hoped to accomplish with the legal opinions written in those cases. RBG's life can only be told by examining her work. The need for women to work is something her mother instilled in her when she was a child. She has carried her mother's ethic with her throughout her life.
