Can I go camping now? ( )

The cover? A plus. It is so adorable!

The plot/story line idea? A plus.

The carrying out of the plot/story line? ::Resists the urge to rant.:: I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I felt that it was cliche, and not for me. (WHY is there not another word for "cliche"?! My use of it is getting cliche!) But, I am one hundred percent sure that others will love it! Part of my dislike for The Happy Camper came from the high dislike I had for Dillon's ex, he was not all that smart and really didn't get the hint that she was not going to get back together with him. I understand that there are people that don't get a hint but he was so, so, so, so, so super dense and I found the three of them to be awkward.

The characters? Not my favorite, I just didn't relate to them. I am not saying they weren't developed, I'm saying they weren't characters I understood.

The whole part of fixing up the camper was so stinkin' cool, I loved, loved, loved the descriptions, and I loved the way the author just pulled that part all together.

The potential, though? There was a lot of potential. I just didn't see it as a good or redemptive read and I don't even remember if there was spiritual content.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

I love Melody Carlson's books and this one was no exception. This was fun as Dillon adapted to tiny living without ever intending to, but shifted gears quickly and almost without out too much trouble. Although this book is supposed to be Christian Fiction, the spirituality is minimal. ( )

If it's not already a Hallmark movie, I suspect it will be soon.

Dillon (female) breaks up with her boyfriend then loses her job. Combined with hearing that her beloved grandfather is depressed, this pushes Dillon to decide to return home. Along the way, she sees two cute trailers and ends up following one to a trailer park that has some trailers for rent. Dillon loves the trailer she gets to stay in so much, she takes photos of it!

Finally arriving at her grandfather's, she finds her mother, who has also broken up with her boyfriend, is also at the house. After a few nights on the sagging sofa and mentioning her night in the rental trailer to her grandfather, he gifts her an Oasis trailer that one of his friends had left him (and later the pickup truck that goes with it). Dillon finds she enjoys restoring her trailer and also finds a local group of trailer enthusiasts that includes Jordan (male) .

To complicate their romance, Dillon's former boyfriend reappears.

In fact, the roadblocks that keep coming up between Dillon and Jordan were the most annoying parts of the book. Is Jordan or is Jordan not interested? Which one is giving off mixed signals to the other now?

The parts about the trailers were good though. ( )

Thank you LibraryThing for allowing me to read this book. It was such a delightful story to read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book about Dillon and her family and friends. It’s a good, clean story of love and friendship. There are not many books this day and age that are wholesome stories such as this. I highly recommend this book. ( )
