( ) I picked up this book thinking it was about Melania's background and childhood. I didn't see on on my cellphone screen, that this book was the "unauthorized" biography. It is really an indictment of her husband. The author doesn't miss a chance to slam him. I am not denying or challenging the honesty of the book. I am simply not interested in flaying an obviously flawed man. I see what he is doing for my country and know he is committed to making the USA safe, wealthy and strong. I only listened half way through. This was a fascinating look at Melania Trump, our first lady. No matter what anyone thinks of her, and it is obvious after reading this book that she does not care, she is unique and generally does her own thing. Because of this independence, this quite often leads to even more criticism as she takes positions on matters that are often questionable. However, it was interesting to learn how a child born in a communist nation became a nude model and then first lady of the United States. The author did a great job in presenting both the positive and negative aspects of this very private character. Interesting book about Melania Trump's relationship with her husband and her time in the White House. Even with this explanation of her personality and why she does the things she does, I'll never understand how anyone could live with Donald Trump, much less love him the way she apparently does. To me, she's an enabler to his worst instincts and that is a thoroughly unattractive quality. Sorry, Melania, but I don't have any sympathy for any travails that you might go through in your life if you choose to stay with your husband. The chapters on her fashion choices (and the money she spends on them - holy cow!) plus her relationship with Ivanka were kind of fascinating, though. Zeige 5 von 5
Kate Bennett's Free, Melania is a book at war with itself. It is flattering, salacious and gap-filled all at once. Beyond that, the comma in the book's title lurks needlessly like the exclamation attached to "Jeb!" What either punctation mark was meant to convey, if anything, remains a mystery. [...] Free, Melania reads as if it were written for an audience of two: Melania Trump and her husband, in that order. Bennett concludes: "Say what you will about her, what is clear is that Melania is unlike any other first lady." There, Bennett has a point.
This program is read by the author. The first behind-the-scenes look at the life of the most enigmatic First Lady in U.S. history. Melania Trump is an enigma. Regardless of your political leanings, she is fascinating-a First Lady who, in many ways, is the most modern and groundbreaking in recent history. A former model whose beauty in person leaves people breathless, a woman whose upbringing in a communist country spurred a relentless drive for stability, both for herself and for her family. A reluctant pillar in a controversial presidential administration who speaks five languages and runs the East Wing like none of her predecessors ever could-underestimate her at your own peril (as a former government official did and was summarily fired). But who is she really? In Free, Melania we get an insider's look at Melania Trump, from her childhood in Slovenia to her days in the White House, and everything in between. We see the Trump family dynamics that Melania has had to navigate, including her strained relationship with Ivanka. We get a rare glimpse into what goes into her famous and sometimes infamous clothing choices (including perhaps the real message behind Melania's controversial jacket, "I Really Don't Care, Do U?", which she wore while visiting the U.S.-Mexico border), and how a publicly quiet Melania actually speaks very loudly-if you just know where, and how, to listen. And we get a behind-the-scenes look at her often eyebrow-raising relationship with Donald Trump, from their beginnings to becoming the most unusual First Family in modern history. Looking at Melania in the pantheon of historic First Ladies, Kate Bennett shows just how different Melania Trump is and why she matters. Bennett, an expert on First Ladies, has unparalleled access to Melania's very small and loyal inner circle. As she shows in this audiobook, the seemingly most reluctant First Lady is, in many ways, the most compelling and complex First Lady, ever. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
