It’s the second book in the series and the author takes the reader on a series adventure makes us feel exactly what the characters feel because I was hurting when Amelie/Sarah was going through. The first half of the book had my heart shattering, it broke every time Amelie and Henri looked at each other, thought about each other, etc. I wanted to smack a few characters and then fate steps in and finds a way to make things work. The second half my heart was racing and loved that Amelie/Sarah found her strength took things head on but she always knew she could count on Henri. These two were meant for each other and fate makes them jump through so many hoops before it works out. I was in tears, angry, then happy, and finally I felt like I could breathe again at the end. The author really knows how to write a book that sucks you in, connect you to the characters so you’re up all night thinking about them, and definitely makes you feel what the characters are feeling and to me that’s a unicorn author. I don’t want to spoil anything so it may be vague but trust me this diet will take you on a ride you won’t be forgetting at all. ( ) This fourth book was a lot. All the questions get answered. So that’s good. It’s a lot going on with the time travel and going through history and the plot twists. But if you hang in there, I think it’s worth it in the end. This book did get a little more complicated with the theories/prophecy behind the time travel and why. But you’re mostly not confused by the end, so I take that as a win. The only thing is that we still don’t quite know who was trying to prevent the birth of the twins. So I guess that is one question that remains open. Also, I don’t think it was made quite clear who the fourth first family was or how Nick was related. Maybe we’ll get more into who the first families were in another book? I think the twins’ story is coming. And for some reason, I was really slow on the uptake for some things. I simply did not pick up on a lot of the blatant clues that were dropped. For instance, Overall, this book was pretty good. The series was very good. I enjoyed it a lot. Sarah took an interesting turn, I will admit. It was unexpected to see her become … what she became. But it was apparently necessary for the story and it showed how she ended up being the person that we knew from the first two books. So again, it was kind of a bizarre twist but it ended up making sense overall. This book series may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s pretty satisfying if you stick with it.
