I am drawn to the Christian aspect of these stories and how God's hand is seen working in the lives of these characters. I enjoyed the use of letters from the past that were interspersed to help tell the story of Tucker's family history. The letters help engage the reader in the ancestral dynamic and possible treasure of those living in a time we struggle to truly understand. I am always a sucker for an epistolary novel. The story is a lovely melding of romance and adventure. There is plenty of drama, too. I have enjoyed the entire series and really love Liz Johnson's way of telling a story. This is the second series I have enjoyed by her and am looking forward to a third that is hinted at in the final endnotes of this book. I hope you check out all three in this series... you will enjoy some great adventures along the way! Review: Thank you to Librarything for picking me to win this FREE ARC COPY in a giveaway on there website a few months ago!! This was my first time reading a book by this author so i wasnt sure if i'd like it or not even tho i thought the cover design was beautiful tho i did end up LOVING this book/story so much!! The Characters were so fun and interesting to read about. The Setting was so beautifully described especially when it went back in time to The Civil War Era Gettysburg PA from time to time which is my favorite Civil War town to visit. Can't wait to read more by this author in the future!! Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. Imagine your heart is shattered when your fiancé calls off the wedding and walks away. You hurt, cry, then move on and try to forget him. Perfect plans, right? UNTIL he shows up at the venue where you are the event manager WITH his NEW bride-to-be! That’s exactly what happened to Penelope Hunter! A mysterious letter from historical archives appears that puts Tucker’s family past in question. This could end his chances of being elected Sheriff. A big socialite is threatening PJ’s job by withdrawing a big event if she is seen with Tucker at society affair. Against the odds, Tucker and PJ set off on a mission to find the truth and clear his name. This takes them all the way back to events and items from the Civil war. The author perfectly captured all the emotions between the characters and how they personally affected the. I liked as I do in all books that in their difficult times PJ and Tucker sought the Lord. I especially enjoyed all he historical part of the book and the solving of the mystery! Very exciting! Liz Johnson rounds out her Georgia Coast Romance series with best friends Penelope (PJ) and Tucker. Their story starts off with an arrangement of convenience, but as these friends embark on the façade, they acknowledge deeper feelings for each other (at least to themselves) while concern over ruining their friendship lingers. There is a bit of mystery throughout the book as this duo digs through Tucker’s family history to find out whether his family truly were traitors. At times, their discoveries come quickly and conveniently. But, at least for me, the growing relationship, the inclusion of Penelope’s ex-fiancé, and the setting of Savannah, GA are what made A Dazzle of Diamonds shine. And, man, am I ever so glad I did!
With a smooth flow from present to past Penelope's and Tucker's romance with a dash of mystery is the perfect summer read.
While I love civil war stories I have not read any like this one, the mystery was not the usual mystery one finds in civil war stories, it was a different mystery that was still hidden even many many years later.
For a romance, "A Dazzle of Diamonds" was clean, there was some kissieness. Spiritually, this book was well done with a wonderful message of hope.
