There are definitely other books out there that have done this inclusion theme better, but this is the one my 6yo son is obsessed with, so I'll let him be the judge. The illustrations are bright, the princesses are diverse (including a boy princess), there are dragons and dinosaurs, the humor is silly, and we have fun reading it.

This is an amusing book with a predictable storyline of inclusion. Both the princesses and dinosaurs are initially quite mean-spirited and reject the other group. The story gets increasingly silly as the groups get more and more dismissive of the other until reaching the standard conclusion that life is better when everyone embraces their differences and plays together. The princess group is depicted in all shapes and sizes, including one that may be a boy. The dinosaurs and other characters are equally diverse and well illustrated. ( )

A fun pushmepullyou between princesses and dinosaurs with a nice acceleration in stakes. It falls apart a bit easily at the end, but my daughter liked it well enough. I thought it might become a favorite, but that doesn't seem to have happened.

This humorous story follows a group of princesses who discover dinosaurs in their pink and pretty, sweet and light princess book and have to find a way to get rid of them. The diverse princesses (one is a boy in a dress) stand their ground as they try to outsmart the dark and terrible dinosaurs, who believe the book is actually about them. The prehistoric creatures fight back, leading to a big showdown between the two groups, but at the end, the princesses and dinosaurs discover the (inclusive message) that each group has fun and enjoyable things to offer each other. The rhyming text and colorful, quirky illustrations underscore the playful spirit of the story. This book would make a great read-aloud for parents and children to enjoy together. ( )
